caring for a garden
Caring for a garden is a great way to encourage patience and responsibility, while sharing in the wonder of nature. Designate an area in the garden that your little one can call their own. Include them in readying the earth and choosing the seeds. You’re best to choose fast growing plants and hardy or fun plants such as radishes, marigolds, sunflowers, sweet peas, cucumbers, lettuce, nasturtium and poppies.
Read through the planting instructions, with your child, but don’t stress if they stray from these a little. It’s all part of the learning experience.
Write the name and date of planting on a pop stick and stand it in the ground with the corresponding seeds.
Your child will delight in checking the growth of their plants daily, as well as picking and eating food they have grown.
